Can Entrepreneurship be learned?

Every child has the preposition to become an entrepreneur. That is if the child gets the chance to implement its ideas into a project regularly. To be an entrepreneur does not mean to move to Silicon Valley and begin your own start-up out of the garage of an old friend.

You can be an entrepreneur just where you are. However, there is one essential requirement every entrepreneur needs; every entrepreneur has. You need the ability to take the initiative.

For most children, this taking of initiative begins already as a small child. It is natural for children, trying to manifest their ideas and dreams. Have you ever watched a child, when it is “in the zone”? It forgets about time and food. All it has is the here and now and how to make the most of it.

Though not every child gets this chance. Maybe its parents do not know about the importance of encouraging the child. Perhaps they continuously interrupt it, so that no project ever gets finished. Maybe the parents put the child down, telling it that its ideas do not matter, that it will never achieve anything in life, that it is better, not to start anything, to begin with.

This child will take everything it hears to heart. It will internalise what it has heard and therefore lives its life by the teachings of its parents … until!
The child grows up, and something happens. Something big. Maybe, against the odds, the child succeeds. People applaud, telling the young person, what a fantastic job she has done, that only she could have achieved that. With a mind and a heart like you, the young person hears for the first time; you can do whatever you want, and you will do well.

Admittedly, one positive experience will not turn around a life of depreciating and negative self-believes, but it will give the young person a point of reference. With initiative, the young person has the power to rocket itself out of the life lived and start to create the life it dreamed of before it was shattered by the adults around.

What makes an entrepreneur

An entrepreneur is someone who implements something new. This does not necessarily have to be a start-up or a company. And it does not matter who or what you are in life. Entrepreneurs are needed in all areas of society. An entrepreneur always finds new ways to implement his ideas. Big names come to mind: Bill Gates (founder of Microsoft), Steve Jobs (founder of Apple), Larry Page and Sergey Brin (founder of Google) or Mark Zuckerberg (founder of Facebook).

But you do not be the next Bill Gates. Maybe your talent is finding a new way to create a drop-in shelter for the homeless in your area. You are an entrepreneur because you made life for the people you care for better.
Entrepreneurship always looks beyond pragmatism; follows its own ideas and finds ways when everyone else says there is no way.

How to start

What all entrepreneurs have in common is an idea, which begs to come alive. Secondly, an entrepreneur needs the initiative to do what she must do to succeed.

For those of you who did not grow up with parents that created opportunities and possibilities for you, but instead filled your head with all the buts and whys you will never achieve anything in life, you need to start by yourself. Your initiative begins by taking care of the chatter in your head. The things you are telling yourself. Take seminars, see a life coach, surround yourself with people who believe in you; who support you and always have your back.

While you do all that find out what your passion is. Hint: These are those things you would do even no one paid you for it! Think back of the times, when you were a child. What were you playing when you were small? And lastly, if money or time were not an issue, what would you do? What would give your life purpose and direction so that you could leave all those situations you are still enduring without ever getting the happiness you know you deserve?

It is never too late to become an entrepreneur

There is no right time to start the life you are dreaming of! All you have is this moment. Decisions are never made in the past or the future. Decisions are made in the now. Always! What it takes is just to do it. Do it now. Don’t wait. Get up and do the first step towards the life you dream of; towards the things you still want to achieve in life!

Does it take a particular kind of woman to start her own business

NO! Every woman is suitable. Every woman has a specific area of expertise, of genius. Imperial studies showed that entrepreneurship can be learned. Every woman can take the initiative. Every woman can learn to become an expert in her field of expertise. Every woman can learn how she can transform her knowledge into a booming business.

Maybe you need a little help at the beginning; perhaps you need to learn to trust your instincts, letting go of the nay Sayers, move out from home, find new friends, say yes to the possibilities which you will undoubtedly come your way.

Say yes to life and if it really goes wrong … that is part of life.

Analyse where you went wrong and do it all over again. Only this time with more knowledge and more enthusiasm because you know, not getting it right the first time is not the end of the world. If you need more help, that is ok. Just ask for it. There is always someone willing to help you along. You don’t need to do it all yourself.

Above all, remember your ideas, your dreams matter.

You matter!

Take the initiative, get the help you need to become the entrepreneur that slumbers within!
